The Braxmatics

The Braxmatics are a high-energy funk unit blending deep-pocket grooves, fiery horn lines, and soulful vocals. Born from late-night jam sessions and a love of vintage records, we fuse classic 70s funk, modern R&B, and psychedelic soul into a tight, dance-first sound. Expect thunderous bass, wah-wah guitars, brass stabs, and an unstoppable live vibe like a beacon broadcasting from the atop Seattle's Space Needle.

Formed in Seattle in 2011, The Braxmatics rose from a circle of friends and session players who shared a simple mission: make people move. Anchored by a groove-first rhythm section, the band marries slinky basslines and syncopated drums with razor-sharp horns, churning keyboards, and impassioned lead vocals. The songs tap into the golden era of funk—think Sly, Parliament-Funkadelic, and Betty Davis—while folding in modern production, neo-soul melodies, and moments of psychedelic exploration. 

The Braxmatics have built a reputation on late-night residencies and electrifying festival sets, where spontaneous solos and dynamic stage craft turned casual listeners into devoted fans. Our self titled debut EP, 'The Braxmatics' (2011), showcased tight arrangements and a knack for ear worm hooks. Lyrically swinging between party anthems, social observation, and sincere story telling—always delivered with warmth and a wink.
